Cashew kernel processing at Kailas facility, Kollam

Thirty years.
One house. One standard.

Founded in 1995 by P. Somarajan in Kollam — India's cashew capital — and recognised by the Ministry of Commerce as a Star Export House.

Chapter 01 · The founding

Kollam, 1995.

P. Somarajan started Kailas Cashew Exports at a time when Kollam's cashew processing belt was already the largest in the world — but most of it was anonymous, commodity supply. The goal was different: a traceable, consistent house brand that buyers could rely on season after season.

Kollam sits at the junction of Kerala's cashew-growing belt and the raw cashew import corridor from West Africa. That geography gives a processor access to the widest raw material pool in India — and the ability to select the right lot for each grade rather than blending indiscriminately.

Chapter 02 · The location advantage

India processes the world's cashew. Kollam processes India's.

Kollam district accounts for a substantial share of India's total cashew processing capacity — factories, skilled graders, and a supply chain built over generations.

01Raw material access

Kerala-grown raw cashew plus West African and East African imports arrive through the Kollam–Cochin corridor. A processor here can select across a wider quality band than any single farm.

02Port proximity

Cochin port — one of India's primary cashew export points — is within easy reach. FOB lead times are tight, and documentation with APEDA and Customs is a known process for our team.

03Generation expertise

Kollam's grading workforce has grown up in the cashew trade. The skill to sort a W240 from a W320, identify a scorched kernel or an off-colour count — that is local, specific and irreplaceable.

Ministry of Commerce Star Export House recognition — Kailas Cashew Exports
Recognition

Star Export House.
Ministry of Commerce, India.

Awarded by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India — recognition of consistent export performance and trade compliance over multiple years.

The Star Export House status is not a self-certification. It is verified by DGFT against actual export turnover data — and it entitles the holder to streamlined customs procedures, bank credit benefits and priority handling at port. For a first-time buyer, it is one of the clearest signals that an Indian exporter is real, active and audited.

Chapter 03 · Our approach

Grade integrity over volume.

We do not blend grades to hit a price. Every lot that leaves our floor carries a declared count, moisture reading and defect specification — and we stand behind it at the destination.
